Filing An Appeal

Appealing a conviction is no easy feat. You need to work with an attorney who has experience with the criminal appeals process in Virginia to ensure that everything is handled properly. I have the experience and skills to handle your appeal.

Appealing To The Circuit Court And Court Of Appeals

I have handled many criminal defense cases. I know what types of issues can lead to a successful appeal. I will review your case and be honest about the potential outcomes in your specific case.

The process for appealing to the Court of Appeals is complicated. I will pay attention to the details of your case and carefully review the transcript to identify any issues that may lead to a successful appeal.

A criminal conviction on your record stays with you for the rest of your life. I understand this and will devote all of my attention to your case.

Time Is Not On Your Side

You only have a limited time to appeal a conviction. If you were convicted by a lower court, you have only 10 days to appeal to the Circuit Court after you have been convicted of a misdemeanor or denied bail.

If you were convicted by the Circuit Court, you have 30 days from the date of your sentencing to appeal to the Court of Appeals. You lose the ability to appeal your conviction if you fail to file for an appeal within the 30-day time frame.
